Hey beautiful souls!

Today I am honored to interview Cera Stan about the history of The Stan Mansion. A wedding and event venue where dreams take center stage and turn into reality with a touch of elegance and a dash of creativity. So let’s get into this interview!

The Stan Mansion Wedding Venue Interview

Q: What made you get started in your industry?

For more than a decade, I walked by a captivating gray stone building in Logan Square, which I affectionately called “The Castle.” It was the most beautiful home I had ever seen, and I would often say, “One day I’m going to live here.” One fateful day, I saw one of my realtor friends leaving the house. Intrigued, I told her the story, only to discover that the house was for sale. Built in 1897 with stunning woodwork and historical details, it was my dream home. Notably, I had to buy the adjacent building, a former Masonic temple from 1920. In less than 24 hours, I made the decision to go for it. I moved into the Castle with my family and turned the temple into my office. The temple’s renovation took six years, and during one of those years, my brother surprised me with a birthday party, orchestrated by Deborah Weisenhouse of Art of Imagination. This transformation sparked my passion for special events, and with a deep love for parties and helping people, I decided that creating unique, memorable events was my calling.

Q: What service do you offer and who do you offer it to?

Stan Mansion is a unique venue where customization reigns supreme. We dedicate ourselves to one event at a time, offering two ballrooms, a lounge, and a luxurious two-bedroom suite with direct access to the Mansion. Our canvas caters to weddings, fundraising events, social gatherings, music concerts, theater performances, and corporate events.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

I thrive on interacting with people and helping them conjure magic. The ability to be part of someone’s special day and contribute to their cherished memories is incredibly rewarding.

Q: Where are you located and what do you love about the location?

Stan Mansion is situated in historical Logan Square, an integral part of the 2 ½ mile long Logan Square Historic District in Chicago. This area has remained virtually unchanged for over a century, exuding a timeless charm that perfectly aligns with the essence of our venue.

Q: Tell us about your team and what you love about working together.

Stan Mansion is a family-owned, woman-led business. Our team is predominantly comprised of women, with the exception of two male security members. Monica, our bookkeeper, has been with us for 16 years, ensuring seamless organization. Aleya, our day-of coordinator and Columbia College graduate, channels her art and event design background into crafting perfect experiences. Reagan, our venue manager and social media expert, shares a deep passion for showcasing the venue and engaging with people. We work harmoniously, and during winter, two college students, Isabella and Jessica, manage coat check. Our working environment is a cool blend of camaraderie and professionalism.

Wedding Venue Events

Q: Any tips for couples planning their event?

Begin with a well-defined budget that includes your must-haves—like a band, flowers, food, drinks, and photography. Let your venue choice align with the look you envision. Don’t be afraid to let your personality shine, and remember to hire a planner or day-of coordinator. This expense is worthwhile, as they keep you on track and ensure your big day unfolds seamlessly. When it comes to catering, choosing a team familiar with the venue’s intricacies can make a significant difference.

Q: Can you share a favorite event you’ve worked on?

Victoria and Frank’s Gatsby-inspired wedding stands out. The beauty of the décor, delectable food, and live band was surpassed only by the couple’s personal touch. Their customization, family involvement, and love story shared with guests left an indelible mark. It was a celebration that truly embodied the essence of Stan Mansion.

Q: Anything else you’d like to share about your business?

At Stan Mansion, exceeding expectations is our priority. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive space for everyone. Our commitment extends to LGBTQ couples, families of diverse backgrounds, and more. We actively engage with our community, promote special events, and embrace diversity within our team. Our mission is to provide exceptional customer experiences infused with warmth, creativity, and cultural understanding.

The Stan Mansion Wedding Review

Q: Do you have a favorite review you’d like to share?

One review that truly warms my heart is: “The best wedding venue in Chicago! Stunning architecture and gorgeous foliage, kind and knowledgeable staff… The owner, Cera, is the queen of weddings!… We couldn’t have had such an amazing wedding without the help of Stan Mansion’s extraordinary staff!” – The Knot by Bridget A.

Q: Any final thoughts?

Working at Stan Mansion is the best job I’ve ever had. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share the story of our venue, and I hope I’ve provided a glimpse into the magic we bring to people’s lives.
