Lincoln Memorial Engagement Photos | Washington DC Wedding Photographer

Hey friends!

Last August I had the pleasure of going to Washington DC to photograph a surprise engagement session for my amazing clients and friends Maria and Brandon. Yes, y’all it was (somewhat of a) surprise and I couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of Brandon’s mom Jennifer. Alright, let’s get into the story boo!

So Maria called me one day upset, Brandon and Maria are in the navy and Brandon were getting ready to leave for his overseas deployment. Maria said she looked into photographers in the area and she could not find any that she liked. Y’all, my heart and soul felt for her, so we tried to come up with a plan to get me to fly out to Norfolk Virginia where they were stationed at the time, but our schedules were not aligning. Maria and Brandon were both sad but tried to stay optimistic with the situation and planned to do a session when Brandon comes back from deployment.

The Surprise

Fast forward to a couple of weeks later y’all flights were dirt cheap, and I decided to check into Washington DC (only a couple hours from them)…y’all the round trip ticket was only 147! I quickly called Brandon’s mom (we were FB friends and grew close of the years) and asked if we could pull this off as a surprise engagement session. Jennifer and I were so dang excited we got Brandon’s deployment dates, Maria’s work schedule and she also paid for the fight to DC.

I called Maria and told her I had bride book me as her wedding photographer and wanted to do her engagement session in DC. I then asked if she would be willing to help me with my son Ayden and in exchange, I would do photos of her and Brandon the next day. Of course, she was on board and so was Brandon until his work schedule and workload increased, so he was actually planning on staying back in Norfolk.

So y’all I HAD TO TELL THEM! Yup, I had to make sure that Brandon was able to attend but it was so worth it! Never in my life did I think that I would be able to photograph a surprise engagement session, let alone be the one planning it!

Washington DC

Washington, DC, the U.S. capital has monuments and memorials that are larger than life! I loved every second that I spent there, and I cannot wait to photograph a wedding there one day! So if you know someone looking for a DC wedding photographer, send them my way boo!

Kind words from Maria “Thank you so much for being you. From your beautiful soul to your unconditional love for my family and me! How many people have a friend that will travel out of state to surprise them with a photo shoot in the capital of the United States because you were sad that they couldn’t find a photographer they liked? Get you a Kendra y’all!!!!! I love you, babe!”

Maria + Brandon thank you so much for being wonderful clients and friends! I am truly blessed to have you in my life!

Y’all I give you the Lincon Memorial!! I’m still amazed that I had the chance to see it in person!

I try to avoid crowds during sessions, but the three of us were amazed not only how crowded it was, but how diverse it was! We decided that we needed to include this fantastic crowd!

When you miss your baby girl, so to have to call her at the end of your engagement session!

I said it once, and I’ll say it again; I have the best clients ever! And, if you’re looking for a black dc wedding photographer, I’m ya girl!!! Aye! Haha!
